Before the famous Mara crossings, the herds pass through the Serengeti's Western Corridor and must cross the Grumeti River. It is usually quieter than the north.
You drive in through the central Serengeti, spend two nights in a tented camp in the west, and return via the highlands for a last morning on the Ngorongoro Crater floor.
The herds move with the rain. In some years they reach the river earlier or later, and crossings can never be promised; your guide follows the latest news to put you in the right place.

Questions
Before you book
Will we see a river crossing?
Crossings depend on the herds and cannot be promised. Your guide follows daily reports and waits at the river with you when the herds are gathering.
Grumeti or Mara?
The Grumeti crossings are earlier in the year (about late May to July) and quieter; the Mara crossings are bigger and busier (about July to October).
Is it a lot of driving?
Yes, days 1 and 4 are long. If you prefer, ask us to price a flight for one leg.
