A week that balances wild and easy: two nights by the Rufiji River in Selous with game drives and a boat safari, then four nights on Zanzibar's beaches.

One week is enough for a proper safari and a proper rest. You fly from Zanzibar into Selous for two nights, see the park from the vehicle and from the river, and return to the island for four nights by the sea.
We choose a mid-range camp and beach hotel with you when we confirm your dates.
Day by day
Day 1: Arrive on Zanzibar
We meet you at the airport and drive you to your beach hotel.
Day 2: Fly to Selous
Morning flight into the park. Game drive with your guide on the way to camp, and an afternoon drive.
Day 3: River and bush
A morning game drive and an afternoon boat safari on the Rufiji River or its lakes.
Day 4: Back to the beach
A last morning in the park, then the flight back to Zanzibar and our driver to your hotel.
Days 5 and 6: Zanzibar
Free days by the sea. We can add a Stone Town walk, a spice tour or a boat trip if you wish.
Day 7: Departure
Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
Many camps in the park close for part of the long rains, around April and May; we check your dates first. Small planes allow about 15 kg of luggage per person, hand luggage included, best in a soft bag; we confirm your airline's limit when we book. Flights can be delayed by weather or air traffic; if that happens, we adjust the day so you lose as little time in the park as possible.

Zanzibar beach and Selous in 7 days: questions
Why fly rather than drive to Selous?
From Zanzibar the flight takes about an hour; by ferry and road it takes most of a day each way. Flying gives you more time in the park and on the beach.
Is this a good honeymoon trip?

Can we have three nights in Selous?
Yes. Add a night in the park and we price it for your dates.
When is the best time?
June to October for the safari; the island is pleasant most of the year outside the heavy rains of about April and May.
