Our longest safari-and-beach trip. A complete northern safari with a whole day in the crater and two areas of the Serengeti, then a flight straight to Zanzibar for four nights by the sea.
The safari runs Tarangire, Lake Manyara, two nights in Karatu with a full crater day in between, then four nights in the Serengeti: two in the centre and two where the herds are in your month.
From the Serengeti you fly to Zanzibar, so there is no drive back to Arusha. On the island you have three free days to rest, swim or explore.

Arusha → Tarangire National Park
We collect you from your Arusha hotel in the morning; about two hours later you start a game drive among Tarangire's elephants and baobabs, with a picnic, before your lodge.
Tarangire → Lake Manyara National Park → Karatu
A short drive to Manyara for a game drive through the forest and along the shore, where flamingos and pelicans gather when the water is right. In the late afternoon you climb to Karatu.
Karatu → Ngorongoro Crater → Karatu
An early descent for up to about six hours among buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, hippos and lions, with a picnic by a hippo pool. The afternoon is free at the lodge.

Across the highlands and down onto the plains, game driving to your camp in the central Serengeti.
Central Serengeti (Seronera area)
A full day around the Seronera River and the kopjes, looking for lions, leopards and cheetahs.

You move to the part of the Serengeti where the wildebeest and zebras usually are in your month, guided by the latest reports.
Serengeti (seasonal area)
Game drives where the herds are, with a picnic on the plains. They follow the rain, so their exact position cannot be promised.
Serengeti airstrip → Zanzibar
After an early drive your guide takes you to the nearest airstrip for a scheduled flight to Zanzibar, usually with a stop. We meet you and drive you to your beach hotel. The plane allows about 15 kg per person in a soft bag.

Free days on the island. Swim and relax, or ask us to arrange a Stone Town walk, a spice farm visit or a snorkelling trip, at extra cost.

After breakfast we drive you to Zanzibar Airport for your flight home.
Lodges, camps and the beach hotel are named when we confirm your dates. Flights can be delayed by weather; if that happens, we adjust the day.
