The southern circuit by road. Two nights in Nyerere with a boat safari, a night at Mikumi, three nights in Ruaha's baobab country and a night in the Iringa highlands on the way home.
Southern Tanzania sees far fewer visitors than the north. You trade the famous names for space and quiet, and you often have sightings to yourself.
Driving keeps the cost down; if you prefer, the last day from Iringa can be replaced by a flight at extra cost.

Questions
Before you book
Is it a lot of driving?
Yes, several long days on the road; that is what keeps the price lower than a fly-in safari.
When should we go?
June to October, the dry season, is best in all three parks. Some camps close in the long rains, around April and May.
Can we fly one leg?
Yes, ask us to price a flight from Iringa or Ruaha back to Dar es Salaam.
